Refurbished 9Barista Mk.1 espresso machines are sold at a reduced price versus our brand-new machines. They may have minor aesthetic issues, such as scratches, dents or scuffs. They may also use older parts, such as portafilters with smaller holes, or boilers without the latest engraving. Refurbished 9Barista machines are subject to a full refurbishing process. Each machine is:

• Fitted with replacement o-rings, safety valve, valve pin and basket cap

The 9Barista espresso machine is beautifully simple. It has no electronics and only one moving part. The machine produces professional-quality espresso by using a new, patented technology that sets it apart from all other espresso machines.

9Barista uses fresh ground coffee, not pods. If you add up the cost, 9Barista will pay for itself within about a year. 9Barista is fast – it only takes 3-6 minutes to make an espresso from cold.

Small, compact and perfectly formed, 9Barista works on any cooker, from electric hobs including induction (additional induction plate required), to gas or Aga and even on a camping stove!

Coffee making specifications

Espresso output: 40g – a large double shot. (approx. 40ml)

Brew pressure: 8-10 bar (Maximum 12 bar)

Brew temperature: 90-95ºC

Ground coffee weight: 15-20g of freshly ground coffee

Grinder required: a burr grinder designed for espresso is highly recommended

Water required: 110-120ml.

Time to make espresso from cold: 3 to 6 minutes, depending on stove.

Time to make a repeat espresso: 3 to 6 minutes, depending on stove.

Recommended extraction time: 25 – 30 seconds.

Maximum time on stove: 8 minutes.

Compatible stove types: Gas, induction (with plate, available separately), electric halogen, electric ring, traditional stove (Aga, Rayburn), camping gas stove.

Materials

The machine is made from die-cast and machined brass, with an electroless nickel plating, giving it both excellent resistance to acids, and good thermal uniformity.

Other materials used are;

• Silicone rubber: All seals, the thermal break and basket cap

• PTFE:  the valve pin

• PEI: the group insulator.

• Stainless steel: basket and heat exchanger coil

There is no aluminium in the machine.
