Your questions, answered

Using the 9Barista Mk.2

What makes the 9Barista Mk.2 a true espresso maker, and not a moka pot?

The 9Barista consistently delivers 9 bar of pressure at around 93 °C through our patented twin‑boiler system, far beyond the ~0.5 bar and >100 °C of a moka pot. That makes for real espresso, complete with rich crema and intense flavour.

Does the 9Barista Mk.2 work on induction hobs?

Yes. Choose the induction option and you will receive an induction adapter plate. The machine itself is the same, only the plate differs.

Is the 9Barista Mk.2 easy to use for beginners?

Absolutely. The Getting Started video walks you step‑by‑step through preparation, dosing (~18 g), water levels, and initial cycles. Follow that, and you'll be dialing‑in excellent espresso in no time.

How much espresso does 9Barista Mk.2 make?

40-45g or a large double shot (approx. 40ml).

How long does it take to clean the 9Barista Mk.2?

Up to 1 minute.

How long does it take to brew espresso with the 9Barista Mk.2?

3 to 6 minutes, depending on the stove.

Do I need a coffee grinder?

A burr grinder designed for espresso is highly recommended.

What dose of coffee and how much water should I use with the 9Barista Mk.2

Use 17 to 20 g of coffee and 110 to 120 ml of water for best results.

What is the difference between the Mk.2 Standard and Pro?

Pro adds a naked portafilter, IMS precision basket, a stainless steel basket cap, and anodised aluminium handles. Standard includes a regular portafilter, standard 53 mm basket, and silicone basket cap.

The Pro machine is better for those who want a higher level of control and consistency on their espresso shots.

What is the difference between the 9Barista Mk.1 and Mk.2?

Mk.2 uses fully machined EcoBrass and stainless steel castings, a steatite ceramic thermal break, an anodised aluminium chimney, and a thicker 3 mm boiler O-ring for durability. The look and feel of the Mk.2 machine is more refined than the Mk.1 and offers significant improvements to durability and consistency.

Do I need to pre-heat the 9Barista Mk.2?

No pre-heat is required. Heat from cold and let the machine do the work.
