Coffee is bubbling from the portafilter
Problem
Coffee is bubbling and sputtering out of the Portafilter.
Cause
This happens when the upper water chamber in the machine boils dry, which prevents the internal cooling system from working effectively, allowing steam rather than water to flow though the machine.
Solution
1. Fill the boiler correctly
Make sure you’re putting the correct amount of water in the machine, which is 120g, just up to the fill-line in the Boiler. If the Boiler is underfilled it can casue this problem.
2. Increase the heat setting
If the Boiler is filled correctly, then the problem is caused by the machine recieving insufficient heat. You should notice that the machine is also taking more then 6 minutes to produce a coffee. Increase the heat setting until the machine produces a coffee within 3-6 minutes.
