My machine isn't producing espresso
Problem
The 9Barista Mk.2 is not producing an espresso when left on the stove.
Solution
1. Check the heat setting
If the heat setting is too low the machine will not build up enough pressure function. Try increasing the heat setting on the next use. If you do this and the safety valve opens, move to step 2.
2. Grind the coffee coarser
If the heat setting is not the issue then your coffee may be ground too fine, causing a blockage. You will see the espresso filling the portafilter very slowly if this is the case. Grind the coffee coarser on the next use.
3. Descale the machine
If the machine is still not producing a coffee even if you put very coarse coffee, or no coffee at all in the portafilter, then there is a blockage in the machine. If that’s the case, carry out a deep descaling cycle, following these instructions.
